Fubara Rivers Youth Leader Rallies Students For Gov. Fubara

A youth leader in Rivers State, Comrade Saviour Oscar Imeabe, has called on the students’ community to rally around the state governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, and give him the needed support to deliver good governance to the people of the state.
Imeabe, the National President of the South-South Youths Initiative, SSYI, spoke shortly after he bagged a meritorious award from the National Union of Gwara Students Worldwide in Bori, Rivers State. He said Fubara has shown his willingness to serve the people of the state diligently and, as such, needs all the necessary support from all quarters, including the students.
While thanking the students for the award, Imeabe stated his willingness to continue partnering with them for the union’s overall benefit.
“It’s our duty to support the students in whatever way we can, so I’m willing to help the students’ community.
“I also want to make all of us understand that we have a governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, whom we have all decided to support.
“Now we have a government that is willing to concentrate on governance, and it is a time where I want to call on the student community, the youths, and all Rivers citizens to support the governor of the state,” he stated.
Commenting on the political situation in Rivers State, Imeabe noted that every other governor had always done two tenures, saying Fubara’s case can’t be different insisting; “We must ensure that we support him to fulfil his second term in office”.
He used the medium to call on the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to desist from distracting the governor, alleging that the former governor did nothing for the youths and students’ community in the state during his tenure.
“Let us also be reminded that the former governor and now Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has never been fair to the student community and the youths of Rivers State as he did nothing for the youths within his eight years of leadership.
“Fubara is trying to do his best for the state, but what we see from the FCT minister is not going well with us.
“We had thought that the FCT Minister would allow the governor to work and give him the necessary support, and as someone he encouraged to become governor, he wouldn’t come back to fight the same person.
“He earlier condemned godfatherism, so why is he now interested in becoming a godfather? He must practice what he preaches,” he stated.
The youth leader added, “We can’t accept such a situation, so we are urging the students’ community, the youths, our women, and all Rivers people to support Governor Fubara.”
He also used the occasion to urge Governor Fubara to pay more attention to the student community and the state’s youth.
“We also want Governor Fubara not to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, who never paid attention to the students’ community and youths in the state. I want to use this opportunity to call on the governor to create an enabling environment to make jobs available for students and youths after their education.
“A lot of students and youths are into social vices because the economic hardships in the country are biting hard on everybody,” he stated.
Imeabe further advised Governor Fubara to build his foot soldiers and not rely on those of the FCT Minister while ignoring gossip from people he said have nothing meaningful to offer his administration.
Earlier, the President of the National Union of Gwara Students Worldwide, Deebii ThankGod Celestine, said the award was in recognition of his achievements and support for the students’ community in the state.
“On behalf of the Gwara Students at home and in diaspora, we are proud of the waves you are making in the society. You have achieved an enviable height, and we are proud of you.
“Over the years, we are aware of the contributions you have made to the welfare of the union. Even when you are away, you still contribute to our welfare. We thank you,” he said.
