The Federal Commissioner representing Akwa Ibom State in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Barrister Imo Akpan, has pledged to enhance service delivery in the state.
Akpan made this commitment during a meeting with the Commission’s management and staff in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, over the weekend.
He emphasized that the Commission’s core mandate must be vigorously pursued and effectively implemented in Akwa Ibom State throughout his tenure.
“The Commission’s mandate must be vigorously pursued and domesticated in Akwa Ibom State.We stand to achieve great heights if we work as a team. We must be pacesetters in the comity of RMAFC state offices.” , Akpan stated.
He further promised to ensure that the state office works in synchrony with the headquarters, stressing the importance of teamwork to achieve greater success.
Akpan also assured the staff that communication channels would remain open and that their concerns would be addressed promptly.
The RMAFC is responsible for monitoring revenue accruals and disbursements, reviewing revenue allocation formulas, advising governments on fiscal efficiency, determining the remuneration of political officeholders, and discharging other constitutional duties.
Staff members congratulated Akpan on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure. Mrs. Margaret Archibong, the Deputy Director and State Coordinator, commended Akpan for being realistic about addressing operational issues in Akwa Ibom. She also called on him to ensure that the workforce benefits from the same privileges extended to other states.
Mr. Tamana KpooBavi, the Head of Operations, expressed confidence that Akpan’s presence would help tackle challenges and move the RMAFC Akwa Ibom State forward.
In his response, Akpan expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and assured the staff of his commitment to their welfare and the overall success of the Commission.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of optimism among staff members, who believe that Commissioner Imo Akpan’s leadership will bring positive change to the RMAFC in Akwa Ibom State.
