The NEPL/Seplat Energy Joint Venture has commissioned three new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) laboratories in Benin City, Edo State.
The newly inaugurated laboratories, located at Niger College, Army Day Secondary School, and Oba Akenzua Secondary School, were officially handed over to the Edo State Ministry of Education.
These additions bring the total number of STEAM labs commissioned by the joint venture in Benin City to six, including earlier ones established at Ihogbe College, New Era College, and Edo Boys High School. The initiative aims to deepen the joint venture’s investment in education within its host communities.
Director of External Affairs and Social Performance at Seplat Energy, Chioma Afe, expressed appreciation to the Edo State Government, led by Governor Monday Okpebholo, for creating an enabling environment for such strategic educational interventions.
She noted that the STEAM laboratories are designed to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation among students, equipping them with skills essential for the 21st century.
Governor Okpebholo, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, commended Seplat Energy and NEPL for their continued investment in the future of Edo State through education.
