Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court has ordered the remand of Mr. Ebuka Ibe at a medium correctional facility in relation to charges of Breaking and Entering, as well as Rape, in accordance with sections 307 and 260 of the criminal law.
The Lagos State Government has filed a two-count charge against the defendant, Mr. Ibe. He was presented in court and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.
During the court hearing, the prosecuting counsel, O.S. Dada, asked the court to remand the defendant and also to set up a date for the trial. “I intend to call three witnesses regarding this case, my Lord,” Mr. Dada informed the court.
In the case, the defense counsel, C.M. Udeh, did not raise any objections.
Justice Rahman Oshodi subsequently remanded Mr. Ibe at the medium correctional facility and adjourned the case. “I am scheduling this case for trial on July 9, 2025, and I remand the defendant to the medium facility,” he stated.
The informations of the charges include the following:
Count One: Breaking and Entering, as per section 307 of the Criminal Law Cap. 17 vol. 3. Mr. Ebuka Ibe is accused of unlawfully entering the residence of an individual (name withheld) on or about February 18, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m. at No. 16 Eyitayo Street, Taiwo Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial division, with the intent to commit a felony.
Count Two: Rape, pursuant to section 260 of the Criminal Law Cap. 17 vol. 3. Mr. Ibe is also charged with the act of rape of an individual (name withheld), having engaged in unlawful sexual intercourse without consent on the same date and location.
