Tragic Blast at Lagos Metal Scrap Yard: Army’s CIED Squadron Launches Investigation Following Fatal Incident

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army is responding to the devastating explosion that rocked a metal scrap yard in the Mushin area of Lagos State on Friday, April 4, 2025.
The tragic incident claimed one life and left two others injured. In light of this, the division has deployed its Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Squadron to collaborate with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
Their mission is to uncover the source of the explosion and the circumstances surrounding this alarming event.
Accordingly, the Counter Improvised Explosive Devise (CIED) Squadron of the Division has been tasked to liaise with the Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team to investigate the source and circumstances which led to the explosion.
The team will also inspect the general area to ensure its continued safety. The residents in the general area are advised not to panic and remain calm.
The Division commiserates with the family of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
