Tragic Loss: Lagos Waste Management Authority Mourns Sanitation Worker in Ketu Road Accident

Emamuzo Iboma

THE Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) deeply regrets to announce the tragic passing of one of our sanitation workers, Mr. Bashiru Nuhu, who lost his life in a road accident involving a mini-bus and one of our operational trucks in the Ketu area.

Contrary to some reports circulating in the media, we wish to clarify that the LAWMA truck was carrying out its routine waste evacuation assignment at the time the unfortunate incident occurred.

At the time of the accident, the truck was properly parked by the roadside with its amber warning lights on, in accordance with standard safety procedures. The collision occurred when a mini-bus traveling at high speed lost control and crashed into a stationary truck.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Mr. Nuhu during this profoundly difficult time. His service and commitment to keeping our city clean will never be forgotten.

LAWMA has initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure that all facts are established and justice is served.
