A devastating incident in Lagos has claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy, Chinemerem, who was electrocuted in the Ilasamaja area.

According to reports, Chinemerem and another individual, Qudus, came into contact with an exposed electric wire at their home. The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 10, when both victims were shocked and rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

The police confirmed the tragedy following a report lodged at the Ilasamaja Police Division. A man who identified himself as a relative stated that the victims encountered a bare electrical wire at their residence and were immediately taken for medical attention, but efforts to save them were unsuccessful.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said a team of detectives visited the scene and the hospital, where the bodies were examined and photographed. The corpses have been evacuated and deposited at a public morgue for autopsy, and an investigation is ongoing.

The incident underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures to prevent electrical hazards in residential communities.
