Vigilante Member Killed by Suspected Cultists In Rivers Community

A Suspected cultist on Tuesday night, January 14, 2025, killed a vigilante member known as Precious Nnamdi at Hospital Road, Ahoada town, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, we learned.
We gathered that the suspected cultist bearing guns intercepted the vigilante personnel while he was on patrol along the hospital road and shot him severally, but the bullets reportedly did not penetrate.
Community sources informed our reporter that the assailants later used sticks and iron objects found around the scene to hit the vigilante member until he died before they fled.
The development, we gathered, has led to tension in Ahoada town even as neither of the two dormant cult groups(Iceland and Greenland) in the LGA has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Our source also disclosed that the deceased victim hails from Ihuike community in Ula-Upata Kingdom, Ahoada East LGA.
The Rivers State Police Command public relations officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was certified dead by the Doctor on duty. He has been deposited in the mortuary. An investigation is ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered the Area Commander and Tactical units to fish out and arrest the perpetrators of the heinous crime.”
