The Chief Magistrate of Rivers State has agreed to formally had submitted his resignation.
He communed this through a letter to the state’s Chief Judge.
Justice Ejike George stated his reasons, pointing out to the quasi-military administration that governs the state.
He remarked, “Milord will agree with me that this type of governance is not only foreign but also contradicts the core values of our esteemed profession as legal practitioners and adjudicators.”
Justice Ejike made note that having spent 16 years out of his 22-year legal career as a Magistrate under different democratic administrations, he finds it truly challenging to operate under the current rulership, which he believes would signal a passive and uninformed compliance.
