…..Calls on the Nigerian Government to stop plastic pollution

The Ecological Action Advocacy Foundation (TEAAF) joins the global community in commemoration of World Environment Day 2025, under the theme “ Ending Plastic Pollution Globally”, has called for all humanity to protect, restore, and sustainably manage our ecosystem, the very foundation of life on Earth.
Ajirioghene Ann Offi, the Program Director of TEAAF, in a statement, reaffirms TEAAF’s commitment to promoting grassroots advocacy, policy engagement, and educational outreach that empowers communities to be stewards of the environment.
According to the organisation, as plastics intensify in the ecosystem, it is clear that the current trajectory is unsustainable. It highlighted that lands are constantly polluted, and the seas are filled with plastic pollutants, resulting in death and loss of aquatic organisms and biodiversity.
Highlighting the TEAAF’s ongoing projects in providing training on sustainable ecological practices, free healthcare services for extractive-impacted communities, sustainable agriculture, and youth environmental education, the organization affirms that positive change is achievable.
TEAAF further calls on the governments, civil society, the private sector, and individuals to take meaningful steps toward halting every form of plastic pollution and degradation.
The group also demanded for a call to action to tackle the menace of plastic pollution in the environment by creating policies that ban single-use plastics and PET bottles and set aside laws that will encourage people to recycle their plastics.
