Amejima Obo Olako, a youth leader in Rivers State’s Eleme Local Government Area, has expressed concern about gun control in the LGA.
During a stakeholders meeting with the state’s security chiefs over the weekend at the temporary location of Eleme LGA headquarters, Mr. Olako voiced concerns about the poliferation of arms.
The actions of the local herdsmen were also denounced by the Yourh leader.
“Even the small hand bag some of our youth carry, there are guns inside it.
“What the herdsmen are doing in our LGA is kidnapping.Our mothers cannot go to farm except they are in group” Mr Olako said
Recall that the state’s security chiefs were instructed by Rivers State’s sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, to visit different LGAs and meet with stakeholders in order to determine the security issues that the local communities were facing.
