According an order from Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Borno State Road Maintenance Agency (BORMA) has concluded on an urgent repair work on the Dikwa-Marte road, which links the central and northern regions of the state.
Engr. Sadu Auno, the Executive Chairman of BORMA, declared this order on Thursday, highlighting that the repairs aimed at stopping any further damage before the rainy season commences.
Auno stated, “The Executive Governor has called for quick action on this important road, and we acted immediately. The repair work is now done.”
Also noted “The Governor showed great concern for the road’s condition and told us to act before the rains arrive. This road is important to many people, including displaced families returning home. We must act with all urgency to ensure their safety and ability to move around,” he added.
He also stated that the repairs would include leveling key areas, filling in potholes, and to strengthen damaged sections to reduce the risk of rain washing them away and causing travel issues.
The Executive Chairman also mentioned the plans for a long-term reconstruction of the road, which will rely on future evaluations and funding. However, he stated that the current importance is to prevent the road from falling into complete disrepair.
