Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, June 20, 2025, adjourned further hearing in the trial of music promoter Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu ThankGod, also known as Eezee Tee, to September 26, 2025.
ThankGod and his company, Eezee Global Concepts Limited, were arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, on an amended seven-count charge bordering on alleged foreign exchange malpractice and money laundering to the tune of $397,106.
The case was previously before Justice Owoeye of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, before being reassigned to Justice Aneke.
One of the charges alleges that ThankGod and his company, in June 2023, negotiated a foreign exchange transaction involving the naira equivalent of $52,895 with one Mr. Oladotun Olaobaju Mureke, without being authorized by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The alleged act is said to contravene Sections 5 and 29(1)(c) of the Foreign Exchange Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, Cap F34, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, and is punishable under Section 29(2) of the same Act.
At the resumed hearing, prosecution counsel Bilkisu Buhari-Bala presented the first witness, Mohammed Timta. However, defence counsel Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, informed the court that both parties were close to reaching a resolution and requested additional time, describing it as “one last chance.” He added that if no agreement is reached, the prosecution would proceed with trial.
The judge subsequently adjourned the matter to September 26, 2025, for further proceedings.
