The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has been honoured as one of Africa’s 100 most notable peace icons at a summit held in Kigali, Rwanda.
The recognition came during the 100 Most Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit, which gathered influential leaders and changemakers from across the continent.
The award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional contributions to peacebuilding, stability, and national development.
Idahosa was honoured alongside other eminent figures, including Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State; Dr. Imane Kendili, CEO of African Global Health in Morocco; Nicaise Ndembi, Regional Director at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine; and Ibrahim Zanna.
Speaking during the event, the Project Director of the awards, Kingsley Amafibe, explained that the initiative was designed to encourage recipients to continue promoting peace and development through their various platforms.
He stressed that Africa’s future depends largely on the presence of peace and stability across the region, and called for greater commitment to entrench unity and brotherhood.
Also featured on the list of honourees were Mthuli Ncube, Pedzai Scott Pakupwanya, Torhile A. Uchi, and Angel Nationota, among others.
The award ceremony drew participation from leaders across diverse sectors, including politics, academia, health, and business, reflecting the broad influence of those recognised.
