The Federal Government has deployed four Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Kebbi State as part of its ongoing initiative to enhance security and combat banditry across the region.
Governor Nasir Idris inspected the vehicles on Sunday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi during a presentation by the Commanding Officer of the 223 Light Tank Battalion, Zuru, Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh, and Major A.P. Azubuine, Commanding Officer of 1 Battalion Rear, Birnin Kebbi.
During the inspection, Governor Idris emphasized that the deployment would significantly augment the capacity of security operatives to confront bandits and restore peace, especially in vulnerable areas of the state.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the families of fallen heroes, noting that Kebbi would continue providing welfare assistance to the families of troops who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
The Governor expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, and other security leaders for their unwavering dedication to addressing insecurity nationwide.
“We are grateful for the deployment of military hardware to repel any attacks by bandits, particularly in our most vulnerable local governments,” he stated.
“Kebbi State appreciates the efforts of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff in sending armoured vehicles to strengthen our security operations.”
“My administration remains committed to supporting all security agencies in achieving success on the battlefield,” he added.
He further noted that the communities had expressed gratitude for the military’s courageous efforts in confronting banditry.
“I urge residents in affected areas to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely intelligence to facilitate operational success.
“We also honor our fallen heroes and pray for the repose of their souls. Kebbi will continue to support their families to ensure they live in dignity,” the Governor affirmed.
Lt. Colonel M.S. Saleh thanked the Military High Command for its continued support to frontline troops, stating, “We are working tirelessly, day and night, to overcome security challenges, and we appeal to the public to cooperate by sharing actionable intelligence on the activities of bandits and criminals.”
Major A.P. Azubuine also presented two of the APCs to the Governor as part of the Nigerian Army’s additional logistics deployment to the state.
