The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju has bagged award of Most outstanding Commissioner of Police in South -South,Nigeria .
This follows his nomination by International Association of World Peace Advocates,IAWPA Olugbenga Adepoju, as the most outstanding Commissioner of Police in South-South region,Nigeria.
In a letter dated August 26th,2025 and signed by Austen Young,IAWPA National Director,Community Development,which was sighted by our correspondent,the body said the award is in observance of the third edition of United Nations International Day of Police Cooperation marked globally on September 7 each year.
IAWPA an International Non Governmental Organization,NGO with consultative status with UN which has presence in 193 counties in the world disclosed that CP Adepoju was nominated as the most outstanding Commissioner of Police in South -South for significantly complying with basic metrics for policing standards.
The world peace advocates group said CP Adepoju complied with several criteria which included adeherance to community policing practice,effective community engagement,compliance with rule of law and respect for human rights,partnerships,interoperability factors and capacity building,zero tolerance for bribery,corruption and congested cells, swift response to distress call among others.
The issusance of the award to CP Adepoju and other awardees in the other five geo-political zones in the country will hold 10am on Monday,8,September,2025 at Federal Ministry of foreign affairs auditorium,Abuja.
In the meantime,the Police Community Relations Committee,PCRC, Rivers command has hailed CP Adepoju describing the nomination as well deserved.
Chairman of PCRC in Rivers State,Voke Emore in his response stated that the development did not come to PCRC as a surprise due to the unwavering commitment of CP Adepoju in ensuring a safer and secured Rivers state.
