The former National Secretary of the Extraordinary Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator John Akpanudoedehe, weekend, mocked Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decampees who joined APC recently in Akwa Ibom State.
Akpanudoedehe said the decampees, who previously mocked APC members for carrying ‘toilet brooms as slaves’, are now facing the consequences of their actions.
He said their defection to the APC was already a doom, predicting that the party will lose the forthcoming 2027 elections both in the state and the country at large.
Akpanudoedehe, who is the Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom, stated this during the official unveiling of the ADC coalition in Uyo.
Recall that Akpanudoedehe who was a former chieftain of the APC had dumped the party and switched allegiance to New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the billed up to 2023 general elections, but currently decamped to ADC.
He said, “PDP members are now going to the very ground (APC) they cursed. They said we in the APC then were holding toilet broom as slaves but now, they are the ones holding the toilet broom and sweeping toilet.”
He called for unity within party to be able to wield a great force that will oust the present administration, adding that Nigerians were already tired of the APC government and are willing to join hands with ADC to take over the government.
Akpanudoedeghe called on the leadership and supporters of the coalition to close ranks and ensure their candidates emerge victorious at the 2027 polls.
“Our interest is to build a strong ADC, so please keep your differences aside and work together.
“We who were enemies before have come together to oust an insensitive government for the good of our people. I encourage you to love this party and help it win,” he said.
Also speaking, the ADC’s state chairman, Mr Duke Dick, stressed the need to reclaim democracy in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, citing the struggles of families under economic hardship, insecurity, and lack of opportunities.
He said the party’s ideology is based on eclectic pragmatism, taking the best ideas from both sides and applying them with wisdom to real problems.
Dick called on citizens to rise above tribalism and division, reject money politics, and vote with courage and conscience.
