Opobo Title Holders Urge Tinubu To Reverse Emergency Rule In Rivers

Titleholders in Opobo Kingdom of Rivers State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to expedite the process of achieving lasting peace and restoring democratic governance in the state following the declaration of a state of emergency.
The Title Holders, led by their Chairman, Amaopusenibo Michael Epelle, appealed at the weekend when they visited the suspended governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at his private residence in Port Harcourt.
In solidarity with the governor, Amaopusenibo Epelle stated that they came to show him their support.
He also said that they believe Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State ensured normalcy.
“So we came to see our brother and see how he is doing and to show solidarity with him and encourage him. We know he is pursuing the path of peace. We know that that is what we need here at this time,” he said.
According to him, “From all indications and information available to us we believe that the President means well in declaring the emergency in order to restore normalcy in the State.
“Our appeal is that that process can be a bit fast tracked in order to achieve lasting peace. It is achievable with a position of good faith if both sides show good faith.”
He noted that Fubara is committed to the peace process and it can be achieved as soon as possible so that normalcy can return to the state.
