The President of Global Peace Movement International UK, Dr Mike Uyi, has described Senate President Godswill Akpabio as a brand, an institution and a bridge builder whose impact cuts across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Dr Uyi, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, said Akpabio is known for his inclusive tendencies, accommodating nature and commitment to transforming lives and changing people’s destinies.
He said the Senate President’s name is written across Nigeria and beyond, citing scholarships awarded to over 600 Nigerian students from the North West, South East, South-South, North East, North Central and South West.
The Global Peace Movement President said Akpabio’s wealth of experience as a former governor, senator and minister had earned him the nickname, GSM, adding that his service to the nation also included active efforts to restore Nigeria’s membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU.
Uyi described Akpabio as a “God-ordained project” whose political and public service journey, cannot be brought down, saying his name, “Godswill,” itself symbolises “God’s will” for his life and service to humanity.
He also pointed to Akwa Ibom State, saying the state witnessed significant transformation during Akpabio’s tenure as governor. According to Uyi, Akpabio’s administration left an enduring imprint on the state through projects and policies that changed its physical and socioeconomic landscape.
The Global Peace Movement International president further noted that Akwa Ibom has produced prominent Nigerians across virtually every sector of national life, describing the people of the state as among the country’s foremost contributors to politics, security, business, academia, the professions, entertainment and public service.
He said attempts by social media critics and naysayers to tarnish Akpabio’s image would not succeed, insisting that Nigerians and the international community are aware of the greed and selfish interests behind such attacks.
Uyi urged Nigerians to recognise Akpabio’s contributions to national development and his efforts to promote unity across the country, saying his record should be judged by his years of public service and the lives he has impacted.
