In building professionalism and tackling local project management issues, Nigerian professionals have come up with a local methodology called “Aboki”.
In the unveiling of this provital methodology ,a companion of the Nigerian Project Manger .
The Association of Practicing professionals Project Managers of Nigeria (APPMON) National President and Chairman of the Governing Board Dr.Yomi Ariyo stated “ABOKI” as an APPMON body of knowledge .
Ariyo futher stated that “Aboki’s standardised, context-Sensitive framework address the unique challenges and opportunities inherent in managing projects within Nigeria and Similar emerging markets.
It is a tailored framework to help project managers confront what expects term”wicked problems”,complex, interconnected issues where solving one part often gives rise to other unintended challenges.
Dr Inemi Stephen ,Lead Editor of Aboki Research Project, stated that wicked problems are rampant in our system from project abandonment to infrastructure decay to youth restiveness and poor service delivery .he went ahead stating that the new methodology will not replace existing global framework but rather localise and complement it,ensuring relevance and effectiveness in Nigeria’s context.
“Trying to solve wicked problems with traditional methods only leads to more issues, ABOKI is a response to this .it provides a structured, research-driven approach that makes projects explainable ,understandable,and deliverable”.
Arc.Haruna Hussaini, Head of Events and Conference Committee represented by Arc.Ramota Obagah-Stephen stated that the framework potential is to influence civic responsibility, mentorship,and public orientation initiatives that could transform national development efforts.She also called all project managers to embrace the vision of this framework.
“Let us apply the ABOKI framework not only to physical structure but also to the construction of ideas and societal transformation.Project management is not limited to concrete and steel its a versatile discipline that can build nations” She retorted.
