Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok Ete Ibas, the Rivers Sole Administrator, has instructed the NBA to return the 300 million naira that was given to them as hosting rights by the previous government, as the state will no longer host the 2025 Annual Conference of the NBA.
He emphasizes that while the NBA has the right to choose where to hold their conference, the state is still demanding the return of the 300 million naira.
The Sole Administrator has reiterated his commitment to restoring democratic institutions as soon as possible, ensuring the constitutional rights of all residents, including freedom of movement, speech, and association, and respecting judicial rulings, including those from the Supreme Court, which have guided the administration’s actions.
Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibas Eta Ibas asserts that the NBA, as a legal entity, should avoid reducing complex constitutional issues to mere political sensationalism. He encourages the NBA, as a vital participant in Nigerian democracy, to engage constructively and propose solutions rather than promote divisive narratives.
The Vice Admiral also called on the NBA and other concerned Nigerians to support this process for the sake of peace and progress.
