As the 2027 governorship election in Akwa Ibom state approaches, excitement is building around Governor Umo Eno’s bid for a second term. Leading the charge is Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who has openly backed Eno’s ambitions during a vibrant Town Hall meeting at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
In an inspiring address, Akpabio—represented by his wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio—hailed Eno as a transformative leader, one who has redefined governance in Akwa Ibom. The Senate President extended the full support of the All Progressive Congress (APC), emphasizing that the party stands firmly behind Eno’s plan to continue leading beyond 2027.
“Governor Umo Eno is indeed a God-sent leader who has positively changed the narrative of governance in Akwa Ibom,” Akpabio stated. “I assure him of the unwavering support of the APC. We mean business when we say Akwa Ibom APC is committed to Umo Eno for a second term!”
This enthusiastic endorsement echoes the sentiments voiced earlier by another prominent APC figure, Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, who also expressed support for Eno at a recent public lecture at the University of Uyo.
In his address during the Town Hall meeting, Eno took a moment to express his gratitude for the backing he’s received, including an announcement of a substantial empowerment initiative aimed at young entrepreneurs in Ikot Ekpene. He revealed that 655 entrepreneurs, including farmers and small business owners, are set to benefit from grants totaling N260 million, and equipment designed to bolster their operations.
“We encourage the beneficiaries to make the most of these funds and resources to propel their businesses forward,” Eno remarked passionately. “Empowering farmers and small-scale business owners is a promise I made during my campaign, and I am proud to see it through.”
This Town Square meeting was not just a platform for announcements; it provided a unique opportunity for Governor Eno to connect directly with constituents, share updates on governmental initiatives, and gather valuable input on community needs through the NEEDS document.
