Two Persons Reportedly Killed As Suspected Cultists Battle For Territorial Control In Rivers Community

Two persons were reportedly killed at Mile 1 and 3 Diobu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday,10th May,2025, as suspected Lamidian and Virus houses of Deygbam cult groups engaged in a territorial control battle, we gathered.

Sources privy to the incidents disclosed to our reporter that the first killing took place in the morning on Saturday at Odunezealane axis of Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, when gunmen suspected to be members of a factional cult group ambushed and shot their rival dead.

We further learnt that the gang members of the suspected cultist who was shot dead at Mile 3, Diobu, mobilised and went to Sagana/railway axis of Mile 1 Diobu in the afternoon on Saturday where they used machete to cut their rival known as ‘Ishi’ to death who reportedly participated in killing of their member in Mile 3.

We also gathered that Business owners and traders in the areas where the killings reportedly took place hurriedly closed their shops for fear of the unknown.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, promised to get back to our reporter, but she had yet to do so when filing this report.
