In gratitude to God, women from across Rivers State, under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for SIM (RWUS), gathered at the Ecumenical Centre in Port Harcourt to celebrate the second anniversary of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara with a special thanksgiving service.
The women said the event expressed appreciation for Governor Fubara’s steadfast leadership despite the state’s political challenges.
They said the thanksgiving was to mark his anniversary and seek divine intervention for continued peace, restoration, and progress in Rivers State.
Regardless of the prevailing circumstances, Governor Fubara has demonstrated capacity and calm in leadership. He deserves to be celebrated,” the group stated in a communiqué.
Reading the address on behalf of the women, Dr. Queen Idanyingi Karibi-Botoye emphasized the role of prayer and unity during trying times. She noted that Rivers women have remained committed to interceding for the state and its leaders, calling on the leaders to set aside their differences in the interest of the state.
“We urge our leaders to set aside their differences, prioritise the people, and work together for the good of Rivers State. It is time for reconciliation and rebuilding,” Dr. Karibi-Botoye said.
The group also extended appreciation to Nigerians who have continued to stand in solidarity with the suspended governor and the people of Rivers State, expressing confidence that peace and unity will be restored across the state.
The women reaffirmed their commitment to continued prayer and civic support, trusting God to guide the state toward a brighter future.
