…Governor Inspects Key Road Projects Across Edo South

Edo State is set to enhance its public transportation system as the New Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. gears up to commence operations on June 27, 2025.
Governor Okpebholo made the announcement during an inspection tour of ongoing infrastructure projects across Edo South Senatorial District.
Speaking after assessing the level of work at the New Edo Line terminal, the governor expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far.
“I came to inspect the work going on here at the New Edo Line station. The vehicles are ready, and everything is set. We are assessing our level of preparedness ahead of commencement,” he stated.
Oligbe Henshaw, Managing Director of the Edo State Transport Authority, confirmed the terminal’s readiness and reiterated the planned launch date.
“This is the state terminal for New Edo Line Nigeria Ltd. By the special grace of God, we will begin full operations on June 27,” Henshaw said.
He also assured that remaining works, including partitioning, CCTV installations, and the control room setup, would be completed by the following week.
Governor Okpebholo’s tour extended beyond the transport terminal to key road projects. He visited Sapele Road, a critical federal route linking Edo and Delta States, where he charged the contractor to fast-track construction in order to ease persistent traffic congestion.
Li Ou Fu, CEO of CBC Group, the firm handling the project, promised to address urgent portions of the road within two weeks, in response to the governor’s directive.
The inspection also covered Temboga Road and Palace Road, as part of the administration’s broader efforts to upgrade the state’s road infrastructure.
The launch of New Edo Line is expected to significantly improve both inter-city and intra-city mobility, providing safer, more efficient transport options for Edo residents.
